Myroslav Skoryk

Myroslav Skoryk (1938-2020) was a prominent Ukrainian composer and pianist, celebrated for his contributions to classical music and contemporary Ukrainian composition. Born in Lviv, he studied at the Lviv Conservatory and later at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was influenced by the works of Western classical composers and Ukrainian folk music. Skoryk's genre primarily encompasses classical music, with a focus on orchestral, chamber, and vocal compositions. Among his notable works are the "Melody" for string orchestra, which gained international acclaim, and his operas, including "Mosaic" and "The Forest Song," based on the play by Lesya Ukrainka.
